Reflective statement

The main concept of this project that we were focusing on was how light can be interpreted as sound. We chose to portray this by using noise generating circuits with light dependent resistors to control the pitch/volume.

The device can use any light source but for our performance we placed infront of a computer screen  which was playing a video clip of a lightning storm, the sound was directly affected by the change in brightness on the screen, therefore turning a moving image into noise, so in a way you are hearing what you are seeing.

A small problem arose while we were testing out the circuit. The light sensor was too sensitive to the surrounding light, so it would have been necessary to perform in a darkened space. Thankfully we figured out an easy alternative: wrapping a little piece of black tape over the sensor so that the only light it receives is from the screen, and there was still a little bit of space to shine a flashlight into to make the noise change even more.
