We then thought of a different game idea:
Four players. Each player is either a red, yellow, green or blue rat.
Some kids are having a big party, and have now gone outside to play.
Inside the house it is a giant mess, with lollies and cupcakes scattered
everywhere. It is not often the rats of the house get to feast, but
this is their chance.
On one level they may start on the dining room table. There are lots of
strawberry, lemon, apple, and blueberry candies scattered all over the
table. The red rat will get points for eating strawberry, yellow for
lemon, green for apple, and blue for blueberry. However, if a rat eats
another rat's candy that isn't their flavour, they won't get points.
E.g. if the red rat eats a lemon candy, the yellow rat will miss out on
that point, the red rat won't get a point for it either and will simply
be spiting the yellow rat. When all the food is eaten in one room/level,
the mice will move on to the next room/level.
On each "level" or in each room will be one cupcake, worth a lot of
points. It is a rule that each rat will share these cupcakes, so one rat
should have a cupcake for one level, but they shouldn't eat the cupcake
on the next level. There is no stopping one rat from having more than
their fair share, and it is up to them if they cooperate with this rule
or not. However, if they don't, the other mice may decide to punish them
by maybe ganging up and eating their lollies. Anything can happen, and
it is up to the players to decide what to do in this game with a fine
balance between cooperation and competition.
At the end, each rat must have a certain number of points to finish the
stage. If they don't, they won't be able to participate in the next
stage. Whichever mouse has the most points wins that stage.
